Garrett here has a few abilities. First and foremost, he has heightened senses. What would your character smell like? Is there anything he would notice through heightened hearing?
Also, thanks to coming from a world where magic is something that the very animals and trees end up soaking in, his nose is sensitive to that too. He picks up magic as a very distinct scent. If your character uses magic, would he be able to smell this on them? If they've ever been under a curse or used magical objects, can he smell that on them?
He also has a staff that absorbs magic like a sponge. It's limited to direct magical energy. For example, if Harry Potter blasted a hex at Garrett, the staff would absorb the energy before it hit Garrett. If Harry Potter used a spell to lift up a chair and throw it at Garrett, the staff wouldn't be able to do anything. If your character uses magic, would their magic be in any way affected by the staff?

Date: 2013-11-15 01:56 pm (UTC)For the most part Donna is human. She has the dormant consciousness of a Time Lord in her mind, but it shouldn't affect her scent. She does have traces of stardust, space and Void-stuff though.
She has no magic powers.
Meg:
Meg is a demon and has a slight sulphury odour to her.
She is well versed in black magic, as well as possessing skills in telekinesis and biokinisis.

Date: 2013-11-19 06:26 pm (UTC)Peter probably has a very subtle scent of magic about him, but it's unlikely to be anything specific. On that tangent, I don't see it being affected by the staff as it's passive. There's a sort of magic about him, and he has certain perception abilities that seem magical in nature, but nothing that would ever be directly targeted.

Date: 2013-12-08 06:31 pm (UTC)While I assume Loki's 'magic' abilities arise more out of a natural and learned aptitude for the manipulation of energy -- grounded in physics, that is, rather than purely magical -- Garrett is more than welcome to smell it on him. He's spent his life around magical (in the same sense as the above) objects, as well, so that's also something that could be noticed.
You're also more than welcome to assume the staff would work if Loki attempts to use magic on him directly. :)
EDIT: Oh yeah, I forgot to add -- if he can hear heartbeats and/or respiration, he should be able to notice that Loki's is rather slower than a human's would be.
